Happy Halloween

This year, since our trip to Disney Land was right before Halloween and we didn't have time to get any other costumes, we dressed up like Mickey and Minnie and Baby Mouse.

We dressed up for our ward party.

We also put our ears back on for Ryan's work party the next day.

They had the office decked out with Halloween decorations and even had clawed footprints for the kids to follow to trick-or-treat.

Asher had a great time. Of course he liked to play with the footprints instead of follow them!

He is getting so independent. He crawled down the halls all by himself, dragging his back of candy. Since Asher obviously can't have candy, Ryan and I used him to play the claw game:) We'd let him reach into the candy bowls and if he grabbed something, then that's what we got, and if he didn't grab anything then too bad. It was pretty funny when Ryan would want a specific piece of candy and was trying to get Asher to grab it:)
They had an area for picture that was decorated with balloons and Asher loved it. He just kept trying to crawl back to the balloons and ruin everyone else's pictures. We did let him play with the balloons when no one was in line for pictures and they got all static and clung to him. It was pretty funny when he couldn't get them off:)

Bonus Picture:

We had a visitor on Thursday. My Aunt Patrice was in town and came to see us. It was fun to talk with her and show off Asher. We spent the afternoon with her- talking, having lunch, walking, getting ice-cream at The Dairy Godmother's, etc. Thanks for visiting us Patrice!

Getting Mad

So about a week ago Asher discovered how to get mad! I feel like it just came out of no where. He suddenly will yell at us and sometimes he even hits at us too. He will also throw his arms up in the air and put the rest of his body straight if he doesn't want us to pick him up (makes it really hard to hold him). It's somewhat entertaining if it's not frustrating. He has also gotten quite independent and wants to do things on his own. It has gotten to the point that he will grab our hands and move them out of the way so he can play or whatever on his own. I've talked to other mom's and they say their kids would get mad all along it just got worse when they got older, but with Asher I feel like he never got mad before and then one day he learned how.

But when he's not mad he is usually being fun and cute.

His best friend is his Bear.

He can do things for himself now.

He loves to climb things and walk along the couch, chair, benches, etc.

He is a pro at Stairs (going up anyway) and will go climb them whenever he sees them. I'm so glad we don't have any in our apartment.

He is such a goof ball sometimes. I wonder if it's his personality or just him discovering things.

His new favorite place to play is the kitchen. (very difficult to baby proof)

He thinks he is such a big help and comes running whenever the dishwasher is open.

He also loves to open and close cupboard doors and drawers, until he gets his fingers in the way. He loves knobs and computers too. I think he watches us and wants to do anything we do. Look, a cupboard just his size.

He is getting so much better about putting down for bed.

Before, he would usually fall asleep in our arms as we fed him a bottle, but lately he hasn't been, so we have resorted to just putting him in his crib when it's nap time or bed time. He cried himself to sleep the first two times, but now it's awesome! He will just quietly lay in bed and put himself to sleep. The picture is of the first time he cried himself to sleep. So Precious. His bear is the only one that didn't leave him:)

Asher is turning into a Daddy's Boy. He loves his dad and always wants him to hold him when he's home. And since he leans and reaches for what he wants now, he is always reaching for daddy.

A New Asher Blog

Asher is almost 8 months old now. He is a lot of fun and is growing fast! He loves to have a good time, especially when he gets to play with dad. He is smiley all the time (okay, most of the time).

He has two teeth; the front bottom ones. He loves to bite. He also loves to give kisses. They are super wet and slobbery but so precious. He just opens wide and slobbers all over your lips or cheek, or chin. I absolutely love that he is a great hugger. At least he lets me hug him. He usually will let me pick him up and hold him close for a few seconds before he is ready to be off playing again. He is so loveable.
He is a great eater. He loves all the different foods and eats every last bite of every meal. I don't think he's ever not finished anything. I guess he needs it since he is getting so big. We just bought him new pj's and they are size 2T. And his onesies are 18 months, but won't last too much longer.

His diapers didn't last. He busted out of his old ones! We only had a few left and wanted to finish them out, but I guess that wasn't an option:) He is also super active. He bear crawls everywhere (mostly at super speed). He has no problem staying up with us if we are walking at a slow pace (except of course he gets distracted way too easily and veers off course).

He loves to play with anything that's stuffed. Pillows, piles of clothes, and animals, particularly his bears.

He is always attacking them and wrestling with them on the ground. He bites and chews them and has a great time. He is definitely a boy! He plays rough.

He loves exploring and he gets into everything. He loves the bathroom and has discovered the fun of toilet paper rolls and toilet water.

(Look how tall and skinny he is)
Because he is getting so tall, he reaches everything. I keep having to re-baby-proof our house. And if he can't reach it, he goes up on his toes and just doesn't give up.

Like I said, he gets into everything. He also thinks he should be able to go anywhere now. Even if he can't!

He climbs on, in, over, under, (never around) anything and everything. He also climbs up anything. He loves standing and uses any means to get there: play pen, couch, chair, bench, walls, bookshelf, my legs, other peoples legs, even other people's babies. He just grabs hold and pulls until he is up right.

It keeps Asher busy and me on my toes.

He is also developing more faces. He is super expressive.

He is always smacking his lips and licking them.

He also loves to spit and buzz his lips.

His new favorite face to make is the fish face. He makes fish lips and kissy noisy. It is super cute but impossible to catch on camera.

He still plays pretty well by himself, but of course loves it when we play with him even more.

He also has started reaching to be picked up or when he wants to go to someone else he reaches in their direction.

And of course I still love his blue eyes!

Colombus Day

Ryan has today off work, which means of course that he's at work! It never ends.

We had a great weekend though. My cousin Kendra was in town for the weekend and she stayed with us. We took her to the Martin Luther King Jr. memorial.

Here's the entrance

Kendra and Asher at the Monument.

Asher was so funny on the grass. He didn't want to touch it so he'd hold his hands up. So cute. But he did finally adjust and crawled around a bit.

He has been making so many funny faces lately. I didn't get a picture of it, but he crawled around all day today making the fish face.

Asher also really enjoyed hanging upside down.

Today, Tayzlie came over and we made a shirt for her because she's running for her school secretary.

Happy Birthday to Me!

Ryan really spoiled me during my birthday week. He brought me a present everyday! He did a fabulous job and I am super lucky to have him as my husband. He surprised me me what he got me too:)

I got some awesome jewelry! I love them. Pearls and sparkly stones!

Mary Kay perfume sampler.

Some new make-up (much needed).

Ryan also got me this awesome 'slap watch'

I love m birthday cards too:)

Along with the cards, he got me an invisible ink pen.

It may look like an ordinary birthday card, but...

shine the light on it and there's a secret message!

And he got me a show to watch.

On Saturday, my birthday, Ryan and Asher took me out to brunch then we went shopping at the mall.

I got a new pair of shoes and a new outfit!

Here's Asher riding on Ryan's shoulders while shopping at the mall.

Bonus picture: Smiley Asher playing with his bears. He loves stuffed animals. He attacks and and rolls around with his bears. It's super fun to watch.
