When I grow up...

I still don't know what I want to be! But I'm narrowing down the fields. Since Ryan and I are moving in May, I have the perfect opportunity to start a new career. But which one?
Here are my top choices so far.

1. Personal trainer/ kickboxing instructor. I've been teaching a couple classes a week for the Relief Society exercise group here and it's going really well. In fact, I think last night was the best turn out and workout we've had so far. It just keeps getting better and I enjoy doing it. I also really enjoy being in shape and this would definitely help with that:) It would require 4-6 months of studying and training, then I'd have to pass a practical and written exam.

2. Esthetician/ makeup artist. I have always enjoyed getting dolled up. I think this would be a great way for me to put another aspect of what I'm passionate about to good use. I think all women should take time to be feminine and what's better than feeling good about how you look! I'd be able to put my skills to use and if I work in a salon I wouldn't have to worry about any of the busy work or the business side of things (a plus). This would require about 9-12 months of school, and passing the exam.

3. Mary Kay consultant. Yes, I am one at the moment. However, I am debating if I should continue this avenue or not. Yes it's makeup and helping women look good, but it's more just instructing and selling. I want to DO! Mary Kay has a 'no hands on' policy, meaning I'm suppose to let them put the makeup on while I just instruct how. How frustrating! And do I really want to be in sales? This just requires more dedication on my part and finding clients.

4. Secretary/ receptionist. Well, I'm definitely qualified for this type of job. It wouldn't require any schooling and I could probably start right away. In a way, it'd be nice because I feel it's more stable, but that's also what I hate about it. I don't want to work 9-5 at the same desk. I think I prefer something more active. But this is what I'm most qualified to do and it would help with our bills right away.

I'm hoping to get some input from you. For those that know me, what do you think fits best? And I'd love to hear any pros and cons you have if you know anything about any of these jobs. Maybe you'll point out something I hadn't thought of yet. Thanks!

Valentine's Recap

Ryan and I had a nice, relaxing Valentine's Day. We decided that we just wanted to take a break from school and work and spend our whole day together. It was great! Ryan also gave me a pair of beautiful earrings. I love them.

We ate ice-cream and watched a chick flick, 'P.S. I love you'. It was really cute and totally makes you appreciate the special people in your life. I'm glad I found the love of my life.

Snow Art

Downtown they had these huge blocks of snow throughout Grant Park. When Ryan went to school this week he noticed that they were no longer blocks, but had been sculpted. Here are some of the pictures he took:

Here's a few more. They didn't last very long because it got warm and they started to fall apart. I just wish it would keep getting warm, but it's suppose to snow again! Boo.

Motorcycle Show!!!

Oh yeah! Melanie treated me to a great weekend last Saturday when we went to the 2009 Motorcycle Show here in Chicago. It was like going to 10 dealerships all in one place. It was great! We (I) had fun just wandering around the bikes, sitting on them, reminiscing, etc. Mel was a good sport. She thinks I'm great when I get all excited about things like this. And she is an extra special, amazing Girl, in that she says it's fine if I get a bike, and that, in fact, she wants me to.

We started off in a section with a lot of road bikes. Fun, but not 'til I'm older.

Oh YES!!! It's Kawasaki's relatively newest model, the ZX-14! Built to rival Suzuki's Hayabusa, the few people I've talked to that have ridden both say that it doesn't disappoint.

Another angle on the ZX-14. I've always thought the slits/stripes/gills on the side look a lot like on the Ferrari 512.

Mmm, hmm. So relaxing. 160hp at the twist of your wrist.

Like a kid in a candy store. Or me in one, I like those, too.

Here she is! The mighty Hayabusa. With over 165hp, she's rumored to do 0-60 in under 3 seconds. This was the second bike I ever rode, and it was definitely a HUGE step up from the ninja-250 I learned on. Went riding with a friend who had one and hit 155 in no time! I felt a little bad, because my bike dropped off between 140 and 150. Always wear your helmet!

Oh so sexy! The ZX-6 is a decent bike, for sure. When I get a bike again, it will likely be a 600 so that it is cheaper and I can teach Melanie to ride.

What's up, Girl!

BMW makes a good bike, but I've never ridden one. There were also a couple Ducatis there. No MV Agusta, though. That's the bike Will Smith rides in I Robot. My roommates and I looked it up when we watched the movie. You can tell from the signature 4 tail pipes under the seat.

They had a guy doing some stunt riding on a track. Pretty cool. They have the video on their website.

And last but not least, the show bikes. Look at the extension on that back wheel! And if you look closely, that back tire has been shredded in spots.

Mmmhmm. Some people go to extremes with their bikes. This one has a custom paint job, extended back wheel, lighting, and probably other things I didn't notice.

Yeah, like the hugely fat back tire! I saw a guy once at this car/motorcycle gathering that had an in dash TV screen (like 8") up by his gas tank. I don't think he watched when he rode, though.

This one's pretty sweet, too. I think I like the colors.

Okay, I had to throw this in. This is the bike I had before I sold it when I came out to Chicago. A 1994 Suzuki RF900r. I bought it with 39k miles and it had over 48k when I sold it. But it ran strong as ever.

Asking for Advice

My sister-in-law did this on her blog and I thought it was a great idea. I'd like to ask you to give me advice about the best things to do in New York City. We are taking a family trip there in May and since I've never been I want to know where to go and what to see. Also, if you have any secrets to keeping the cost down, I'd love to hear those too.
